Massey at Wellington Students’ Association (MAWSA) is YOUR students’ association, run by students, for students! Our executive is elected annually to represent each part of student life.

We’re here to give you a helping hand in your time at uni; from a free sausage sizzle to a hardship grant, we’ve got it covered. MAWSA also publishes Massive Magazine, which is distributed on all campuses every fortnight during semester.

We’re like your big sister - we provide the treats, but we also do the mahi to protect you, and ensure your voice is heard in decision making.

We’ve made it our mission to help community thrive on this campus, and to represent our student body with integrity - so drop us a line if you have questions, queries, or ideas. We love hearing from you!

Although the situation in the United States is seperate from us, it stems from the same colonial history. A glance at our prison statistics is enough to see that systematic oppression is still very much alive. View fullsize Kia ora e te whānau, We need to know when to listen and when to speak out. Right now, it’s important not to be passive or silent - that only allows injustice to continue. But more than anything, it’s important to listen and pay attention to People of Colour. We want to ensure our campus is a safe space for People of Colour - and we acknowledge that it might not currently be that for everyone. We acknowledge that in Aotearoa, tangata whenua still face racism and oppression every day. We are determined to actively fight for justice, and to lift up Black voices. Our campus is a place for activism. It is a space for movements to form, for campaigns to be fought. If you want to do something to tackle this global & local issue, talk to us. You can order up to $50 worth of food with the advocate to be picked up from the Countdown nearest you. 〰️ Out of town because of covid and need a food grant? No Countdown near you? Immunocompromised and/or can’t go to the store for some reason? 〰️ Contact our Advocate Julian at advocate@mawsa.org.nz along with a photo of your student ID and he’ll set you up with a Food Grant that works for your situation.

While learning remains online for the rest of the semester, on-campus services like our libraries, recreation centres and some food outlets, will re-open next week. We’re also looking forward to welcoming students back to our halls from this weekend! To keep everyone safe on campus, there will be contact tracing processes in place – we’ll need everyone who comes onto campus to play their part. View fullsize Do you love a Kahoot quiz? Well, ME OH MY, do we have news for you! For the next two weeks, MAWSA will host a Kahoot quiz via Zoom EVERYDAY at 4.30pm (and we’ll keep it going after that)! It’s simple - pop along the Zoom meeting each day, and the quizmaster will screen share the Kahoot from their end. We will use the same Zoom link for every day, so it’s easy access!
