Financial Support

If you have found yourself in a situation where you cannot afford to eat this week, you can contact our student advocate at advocate@mawsa.org.nz, or pop in and see Julian, and receive a food grant up to $50.

For any other temporary or unforeseen hardship, you may be eligible for a financial hardship grant for up to $500. Watch the video to find out more!

If you think you’re eligible, apply below!

Academic Grievances and Issues

Things we can help you with include:

  • Being your support person through academic grievances and issues you may have with your lecturer, with a classmate, or with Massey staff.

  • Being your sounding board when you’re not sure what to do next if you feel you were unfairly assessed, unfairly treated, discriminated against, harassed or feeling unsafe.

  • Reviewing your draft letter, email or complaint before you send it. We can also send the message in your behalf (when you can and want to keep anonymity).

Tenancy, Flatting, and Employment Issues

While we won’t be able to give you professional and expert advice on these, we can support you in getting organized and getting in touch with those who can such as Tenancy Services, Employment NZ, Citizens Advice Bureau, etc.

We can support you by calling those services with you from a safe space, making sure you ask everything you wanted to ask before you hang up! We can also review your letters/emails before you send them or just be your sounding board when you’re not sure what to do next.

Wā Collective

You can pick up your Wā Collective online orders from our Student Advocate! Ring the bell at Level C, Co-Lab reception and look for Julian! 😊
